Yesterday, I had the opportunity to spend the entire afternoon and evening on my friend’s boat. He has a giant pontoon “Sun Tracker” as seen in the picture here in the post. His doesn’t have the full cabin, but it’s just about the same size. Anyhow, we spent the entire day just cruising the Fox River at about 20 mph…it was glorious. Got a nice tan, enjoyed some great snacks, and plenty of nice scenery. It was very, very peaceful.
It felt great to leave technology behind. No work computer, no home computer, and I even turned my iPhone off. No distractions. The only time I turned my iPhone on was when we boated past my dad’s friend’s house…and lo and behold, my dad was outside standing there so I screamed and waved and he called me. We chatted for a bit. He was out on his motorcycle, and I was out on a boat. We know how to enjoy a nice day (90 degree high…perfect)!! So after that, the phone went back off and I was in bliss.
There’s something about just sitting and not thinking about anything. It’s just pure relaxation. My buddy who owns the boat is a lot like me; we both work a lot of hours so we take pleasure in the little things like un-plugging and just relaxing. We both are big quality time people. We like to be with our friends and loved ones. We lifted together in the morning, had lunch at his place with his family, then loaded his daughters up in the car and hit the boat. From there we picked up his wife and 2 of our other friends and cruised the river some more. After that, we just headed back to his house, had some dinner, then watched a movie…the movie ended at 10:30pm and we were both spent. From there I proceeded home and up to bed. Being out in the sun all day can tire ya out!
It was a great way to reset after a long week of working a lot. I’m trying to get better at finding balance that way. Like even now…I’m on my work laptop and should be working but thought it would be a great idea to close off the relaxation by writing about it. Or, I’m just avoiding work. :-)
Anyway, nothing major here, just sharing my Saturday with you.
